Ted Robbins has a career which spans almost 40 years. From eager beginnings as a Butlins Red Coat he has spent the past 4 decades working with comedy stalwarts across stage and screen as an actor, comedian and writer. Ted has starred alongside Kenneth Williams, Frankie Howard, Les Dawson and Eric Sykes; he worked closely with Cilla Black as a script associate and writer as the creating a loller loller laffs on Blind Date and Surprise, Surprise and has acted with Toby Jones, Peter Kaye, David Walliams, Matt Lucas and Jack Whitehall in some of the nation’s most treasured shows including Phoenix Nights, The League of Gentlemen, Little Britain and Benidorm to name but a few. Ted is proud to have played Uncle Terry in six series of Mount Pleasant.
Ted will appear alongside Toby Jones in the recommission of Witness For The Prosecution which will be one of the centrepieces of the BBC’s 2016 Christmas schedule.
In reprising his role as Den Perry in Phoenix Nights Live for Comic Relief, Ted closed the first night show in spectacular style attracting a much media attention which he has capitalised on…… Ted works tirelessly is a proud patron of the British Heart Foundation in the promotion of CPR awareness in schools.
With his ability to spread humour across generations Ted plays one of CBBC’s most popular characters “The Governor” in the BAFTA award winning programme, The Slammer. Ted has brought festive cheer to family’s across the country every year as one of the best panto dames in the country with the exception of 2015 when he will be tip-toeing down the famous cobbles of Weatherfield. At the end of the October 2015, Ted joined the cast of Coronation Street, just another string to his legendary bow.
In 2015, Ted was honoured to host the Royal Television Society Awards in Manchester.
