Layla is a qualified social worker and dating & relationships educator who left her 15 year career in the public sector in 2018 to bring her professional knowledge to social media. Layla uses her Instagram page to deliver advice and education on sex, dating, and relationships. She also has a podcast where, alongside special guests, she answers questions and delivers information on related topics such as mental health, sexual exploitation, and domestic abuse. Layla has also been joined on her podcast by high profile guests including Florence Given and Megan Rose Lane.
Layla began her Instagram journey in 2017 with no intention of it becoming anything other than a place for her to muse, but through word of mouth alone, Layla has gained a significant following – as at mid October 2020 – of 108k followers (and counting). Layla’s followers are highly engaged and interactive. Her mix of professional knowledge coupled with her openness about her own experiences of dating a fuck ton of fuckboys (until she figured out how to apply her own advice to herself) makes her followers feel seen and heard, but also safely guided in the right direction without any judgement.
Layla helps her followers to navigate the grey areas that aren’t talked about in the dating books, she gives the advice that you wish you had known before you jumped fanny first into the world of dating, and as a result she has created a community that has enabled women to realise that they are not alone when facing the horrors of modern day dating. Layla has been featured in multiple news sources including Cosmopolitan, VICE, NY Post, Talk Radio Ireland & iNews, and she is a regular on BBC radio across a number of stations including BBC London, Radio 5 Live, and BBC Asian Network.
