Jo and Clare first met whilst training at RADA on the MA Theatre Lab course, it was here they discovered a love of writing and storytelling together.

Following their time at RADA they went on to found Hot Coals Productions in 2012 where they wrote and developed their first theatre show Storm in a Teacup and the partnership was well and truly forged. Hot Coals Productions specialise in creating stories which are completely inclusive and accessible to both Deaf and Hearing audiences. Their ambition being to bring audiences together in a shared experience and where no one is left behind.

After 8 years of making and touring theatre, in 2020 the pair co-wrote their first short film, My Darling Christopher, which went on to tour film festivals around the world and won 8 awards including Best International Short (Idyllwild Festival 2021) and gained an additional 10 nominations. They have since written a further 2 shorts which they have on their slate and are currently writing their debut feature film “The Driver” (working title).

Jo and Clare have also written a pilot script for their comedy drama, Ticked Off, which in currently optioned by ITV Studios company 5Acts and is in discussions with commissioners.

Clare and Jo were also named as Screen International’s Screen stars of Tomorrow 2023.
