Clare is an award-winning Deaf director and Co-Founder of Hot Coals Productions.

Born hearing she lost her hearing as a teenager and now speaks and signs BSL to level 3, she has experience in directing both in English and in BSL and often both together!

Her 4th short film, How Do I Look, was recently completed for The Media Trust and Vital Xposure and combines a spoken word poem with BSL and integrated subtitles.

She currently has two short films doing the festival circuit: WE CARE and INDEFINITELY which form part of the TALKING BODIES collection of 7 short films, commissioned by Hot Coals and written by Deaf & disabled writers. Both films have been selected for various festivals including the BAFTA qualifying Norwich Film Festival and SuperFest, with WE CARE having just won Clare a Best Director award at Overcome Festival and INDEFINITELY receiving a Vanguard Award for Excellence in Film at Idyllwild Film Festival along with a further six nominations.

Last year, Clare gained her first feature film credit as 2nd Unit Director on, Warhol, which premiered at Raindance 2023, where it has been nominated for Best British Film.

In 2020 Clare directed her debut short, MY DARLING CHRISTOPHER, which went to festivals across the globe and won a total of 7 awards, and gained her a nomination for Excellence in Directing.

Oct 2022 Clare directed ABOUT TIME an evening of performance celebrating Deaf and disabled acting talent in the UK. The event was held at BAFTA and was sponsored by ITV and Disney+.

Last year, Clare shadowed a number of directors including: John Maidens on Father Brown (BBC), Kate Hewitt on One Day (NetFlix).
