James Gould-Bourn is a screenwriter and novelist from Manchester.

His short films have been shown at various international film festivals. His most recent film, Champ, qualified for consideration at the 2022 Academy Awards. It was directed by Emmy award-winning director Ben Tricklebank and starred Drew Powell (Gotham, Young Sheldon, Ray Donovan, Straw Dogs) and Kingston Vernes (The Survivor, Mank). The film premiered at Cinelounge in Hollywood and was nominated for Best Film at the 2022 Exit 6 Film Festival.

His debut novel, Keeping Mum, has been published in 13 languages and was selected by The Samaritans for their Feel Good Book Club. The novel was also adapted for the stage in the Czech Republic. His second novel, Lost & Found, was published by Orion in January 2023.

James currently lives in Bristol. He is represented by Hardman & Swainson for his novels and MMB for his screenwriting.
