Hot Key Books win the UK auction for Claire Hennessy’s Nothing Tastes as Good

Hot Key Books has signed three new authors for 2016, including Puffin Ireland editor Claire Hennessy and New York Times columnist Lisa Selin Davis.

Hennessy’s novel, Nothing Tastes as Good, is about Annabel, a recently deceased anorexic teen who is assigned as a ghost helper to a girl who also has a difficult relationship with food.

Hot Key editor Naomi Colthurst, who acquired the UK and commonwealth rights from Sallyanne Sweeney at Mulcahy Associates in a two-book deal, said Hennessy is UK YA’s “next biggest voice”.

She said: “Her writing is astonishing – it grips you from the moment you start reading, and simply doesn’t let go. I have never met a character like Annabel, and the journey Claire takes her on is extraordinary. On top of that, Claire is simply a dream author: funny, engaged, passionate and a complete delight to work with.”

Publication is set for July 2016.
