David has written on a wide variety of shows in addition to several pieces for the stage over the past ten years. Initially in production and script editorial roles David has worked on three of the BBC’s most successful sitcoms, My Family, Two Pints Of Lager & A Packet Of Crisps and The Green Green Grass.
My Family was the first British comedy to embrace the American team writing formula and David was one of its youngest and longest serving writers, working on the show all the way to it’s conclusion on series eleven, contributing five episodes and a Xmas special.
On Two Pints Of Lager & A Packet Of Crisps David took over from its creator, Susan Nickson overseeing its final series, co writing all six episodes.
While The Green Green Grass offered David the chance to work alongside and learn from comedy legend, John Sullivan (Only Fools & Horses) on John’s final sitcom.
Aside from his work for the BBC David wrote the nocturnal comedy Noddyland, which was developed by Green Inc and entered into Channel 4’s Comedy Blap season last year and has projects in development with Avalon and King Bert Productions.
David has also contributed to sketch shows including That Mitchell & Webb Look and CBBC’s Fit, Children’s programmes such as CITV’s My Phone Genie and panel shows, having supplied material for Shooting Stars amongst other things.
Away from Television David has written four stage plays.
I Play For Me and Sheep were performed at White Bear Theatre in Kennington to critical acclaim , Stopping Distance had a full cast read through at the Old Vic and is currently in development at The Park Theatre while David’s most recent play Jumping The Shark had a successful Number One tour in 2023.
