Sidney Jones.
Sidney Jones joined Mulcahy Sweeney Associates in March 2024 as an assistant literary agent while completing an MSc in Media and Communications at the London School of Economics. Her undergraduate dissertation focused on the lived experiences of migrant musicians in London, sparking and enduring interest in joy, performance, and craft as acts of collective resistance.
A musician as well, Sidney holds a strong interest in ethnomusicology and sonic resistance, exploring how music and storytelling can foster community formation and hold space in our collective imagination. Her experience working at a news agency and local newspaper heightened her sensitivity to the connections between personal stories and broader narratives shaping national or collective identities.
Over time, her companionship with books has grown – A Field Guide to Getting Lost by Rebecca Solnit, with its contemplations on place, memory, and the value of uncertainty, shaped her view on moving between worlds. Kate Zambreno’s Heroines, with its unique blend of literary criticism and memoir, resonated deeply for its fierce examination of suppressed women’s voices in both life and literature.
