EM Reapy was born in 1984 and has an MA in Creative Writing from Queen’s University, Belfast. Her work has been published internationally. She has read in venues and at festivals in Ireland, the UK, USA, Argentina, Australia and New Zealand. She was founder editor of wordlegs.com, compiled and edited ’30 under 30: A Selection of Short Literature by 30 Young Irish Writers’ (in association with Doire Press) which was selected as Paperback of the Week in the Irish Times, March 2013. With wordlegs.com, she directed both Shore Writers’ Festivals in Co. Sligo for young writers.
She is a Pushcart Prize (2012) nominee and had a no. 1 iTunes Literature podcast (May 2012). She was selected as the Exchange Irish Writer in Residence to Varuna Writers’ House in Australia (2012) and received an Arts Council of Ireland Travel and Training Fund to complete this. In 2013, she represented Ireland in PEN International: New Voices Award and was one of six writers listed for the award. In 2014, she was shortlisted for Penguin Ireland/RTE Guide Short Story competition and for Over the Edge New Writer of the Year Award.
She received an Arts Council of Ireland Literature Bursary to complete work on RED DIRT, her first novel. She is currently the UNESCO Dublin City Writer in Residence.
