Harriet Mercer was born in Cardiff, and failed her first driving test in Wales. You’d be minded to keep your eyes on the road and not in the fields, Miss Mercer, said the examiner, after she’d pointed out a lamb with the bounce of a kangaroo.
What her examiner had failed to realise was that Harriet’s eyes are everywhere, observing detail. Indeed, Harriet is rarely without her camera; a lover of nature, she is inspired to find beauty in the everyday.
Harriet received a distinction for her MA in Creative Writing at Royal Holloway and was awarded the University of London Creative Writing Prize.
Harriet now lives in Teddington, South West London.
